De nieuwe astronauten van ESA hebben zich deze week gemeld bij het Europees Astronautencentrum in Keulen, Duitsland. Het zeskoppige gezelschap is begonnen aan de eerste dagen van hun 18 maanden durende basisopleiding ter voorbereiding op toekomstige missies naar het Internationaal Ruimtestation en daarbuiten.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>De nieuwe astronauten zijn:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Samantha Cristoforetti, afkomstig uit Milaan, Itali\u00eb.<br \/>\u2022 Alexander Gerst, afkomstig uit K\u00fcnzelsau, Duitsland.<br \/>\u2022 Andreas Mogensen, uit Kopenhagen, Denemarken.<br \/>\u2022 Luca Parmitano, afkomstig uit Patern\u00f2, Itali\u00eb.<br \/>\u2022 Timothy Peake, afkomstig uit Chichester, Verenigd Koninkrijk.<br \/>\u2022 Thomas Pesquet, afkomstig uit Rouen, Frankrijk.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\" data-width=\"3008\" data-credit=\"ESA\" data-detail-url=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/ESA_Multimedia\/Images\/2009\/09\/The_new_astronauts_are_welcomed_to_EAC_for_their_first_day_of_training2\" data-licence=\"ESA Standard Licence\" data-licence-url=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/ESA_Multimedia\/Terms_and_conditions_of_use_of_images_and_videos_available_on_the_esa_website\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"max-width:100%;height:auto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/var\/esa\/storage\/images\/esa_multimedia\/images\/2009\/09\/the_new_astronauts_are_welcomed_to_eac_for_their_first_day_of_training2\/18247290-2-eng-GB\/The_new_astronauts_are_welcomed_to_EAC_for_their_first_day_of_training.jpg\" alt=\"The new astronauts are welcomed to EAC for their first day of training\"><figcaption>De nieuwe astronauten worden bij EAC verwelkomd op hun eerste trainingsdag<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u2018Ik ben erg blij dat onze nieuwe collega\u2019s zich bij het EAC in Keulen hebben gemeld om aan hun opleiding te beginnen\u2019, aldus Simonetta Di Pippo, directeur bemande ruimtevaart bij de ESA. \u2018We sturen nu al gemiddeld twee ESA-astronauten per jaar naar het ISS.\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>De Europese astronauten volgen hun basistraining vooral in het Europese astronautencentrum EAC. Daar volgen ze een trainingsprogramma dat is ontwikkeld volgens internationale regels die de partners van het internationale ruimtestation ISS met elkaar hebben afgesproken.<\/p>\n<p>Tijdens de klassikale lessen maken ze kennis met ESA. Daarna komen belangrijke lessen zoals elektrotechniek en nog later leren ze meer over ruimtesystemen en werkzaamheden in de ruimte. Andere lessen zorgen ervoor dat de astronauten speciale vaardigheden krijgen die ze in de toekomst nodig zullen hebben. Zo leren ze Russisch, gaan ze duiken om ruimtewandelingen te oefenen en krijgen ze overlevingstraining.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You are not the only ones going back to school this month!
