Solen gir oss lys og varme. Den avgir ogs\u00e5 farlig ultrafiolett lys som for\u00e5rsaker solbrenthet og kan f\u00f8re til kreft. Uten Solen ville det ikke v\u00e6rt noe dagslys, og planeten v\u00e5r ville ganske enkelt v\u00e6rt en m\u00f8rk, frossen verden uten hav med flytende vann og uten liv.<\/p>\n<p>Denne enorme kulen av glovarm gass har en diameter p\u00e5 1,4 millioner kilometer, noe som tilsvarer 109 jordkloder satt side ved side. Med en masse p\u00e5 2 millioner billioner billioner kilogram veier den like mye som 330 000 jordkloder.
