Thomas fikk selskap i Soyuz-kapselen av den russiske kommandanten Oleg Novitsky. De to romfarerne stupte deretter inn i jordens atmosf\u00e6re med en hastighet p\u00e5 over 28 000 km\/t, og friksjonen fra luften f\u00f8rte til at Soyuz-kapselens varmeskjold n\u00e5dde 1600 \u00b0C! Spesielle raketter og fallskjermer ble brukt for \u00e5 bremse fart\u00f8yet, mens Thomas og Oleg ble beskyttet mot den humpete turen av sine polstrede seter. Han befinner seg n\u00e5 p\u00e5 ESAs astronautssenter i K\u00f6ln i Tyskland. Legene sjekker at han er frisk, og skal unders\u00f8ke hvordan kroppen hans har endret seg etter \u00e5 ha levd i vektl\u00f8shet i seks m\u00e5neder. Denne forskningen vil komme fremtidige astronauter til gode, som ogs\u00e5 vil oppleve vektl\u00f8shet p\u00e5 lange oppdrag.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\" data-width=\"2048\" data-credit=\"Roscosmos\u2013O. Han hadde det sv\u00e6rt travelt og deltok i over 60 eksperimenter om menneskehjernen, havstr\u00f8mmer, str\u00e5ling i rommet og til og med testing av nye materialer til romfart\u00f8y.
