Insieme a due CubeSat \u2013 Milani, il \u201cdecodificatore di rocce\u201d, e Juventas, il \u201cvisionario del radar\u201d \u2013 Hera \u00e8 partita per un\u2019avventura alla scoperta di Didymos, un sistema di asteroidi binari rappresentativo delle migliaia di sistemi che rappresentano un rischio di impatto per il pianeta Terra.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Nel settembre 2022 la sonda DART della NASA ha verificato se fosse possibile deviare la traiettoria di un asteroide imprimendogli una spinta \u2013 e ha scoperto che era possibile! Una scoperta importante, se vogliamo evitare di fare la stessa fine dei dinosauri. Gli astronomi possono osservare da lontano come l\u2019orbita dell\u2019asteroide pi\u00f9 piccolo si sia spostata dopo l\u2019impatto di DART, ma manca ancora un tassello del puzzle se vogliamo comprendere appieno come funziona nella pratica l\u2018\u2019impatto cinetico\u2018.
