A Discovery fed\u00e9lzet\u00e9n h\u00e9tf\u0151s leg\u00e9nys\u00e9g tart\u00f3zkodott, k\u00f6zt\u00fck az olasz sz\u00e1rmaz\u00e1s\u00fa ESA-\u0171rhaj\u00f3s, Paolo Nespoli, aki els\u0151 \u0171rrep\u00fcl\u00e9s\u00e9t hajtotta v\u00e9gre. Nespoli k\u00fcldet\u00e9s\u00e9t Esperi\u00e1nak nevezt\u00e9k el, az olasz f\u00e9lsziget \u00f3kori g\u00f6r\u00f6g neve ut\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A 14 napos STS-120-as k\u00fcldet\u00e9s els\u0151dleges c\u00e9lja az olasz gy\u00e1rtm\u00e1ny\u00fa Node 2 modul sz\u00e1ll\u00edt\u00e1sa \u00e9s felszerel\u00e9se, amely az els\u0151 eur\u00f3pai gy\u00e1rtm\u00e1ny\u00fa szakasz, amelyet v\u00e9glegesen r\u00f6gz\u00edtenek az ISS-hez. A henger alak\u00fa modul (m\u00e1s n\u00e9ven Harmony) egyben az \u0171r\u00e1llom\u00e1s munkater\u00fclet\u00e9nek \u00e9s lak\u00f3ter\u00e9nek els\u0151 b\u0151v\u00edt\u00e9se hat \u00e9v \u00f3ta. A Harmony-t okt\u00f3ber 26-\u00e1n, a n\u00e9gy \u0171rs\u00e9ta k\u00f6z\u00fcl az els\u0151 sor\u00e1n csatlakoztatj\u00e1k az ISS-hez. Nespoli feladata az lesz, hogy a Shuttle belsej\u00e9b\u0151l koordin\u00e1lja az \u0171rs\u00e9t\u00e1kkal kapcsolatos tev\u00e9kenys\u00e9geket, valamint orvosi \u00e9s biol\u00f3giai k\u00eds\u00e9rleteket hajtson v\u00e9gre.<\/p>\n<p>Az \u0171rhaj\u00f3sok m\u00e1sodik f\u0151 feladata az ISS egyik tart\u00f3elem\u00e9nek \u00e1thelyez\u00e9se, majd a hozz\u00e1 tartoz\u00f3 hatalmas napelemek \u00e9s h\u0171t\u0151test kinyit\u00e1sa. Miut\u00e1n az \u0171rsikl\u00f3 hazafel\u00e9 veszi az ir\u00e1nyt, az \u0171r\u00e1llom\u00e1s robotkarj\u00e1val a \u201eHarmony\u201d modult a v\u00e9gleges hely\u00e9re, az amerikai \u201eDestiny\u201d laborat\u00f3rium el\u00fcls\u0151 csatlakoz\u00f3hely\u00e9re fogj\u00e1k \u00e1thelyezni.<\/p>\n<p>Az elk\u00f6vetkez\u0151 h\u00f3napokban az eur\u00f3pai Columbus laborat\u00f3riumot \u00e9s a jap\u00e1n Kibo laborat\u00f3riumot v\u00e9glegesen a 2. csom\u00f3ponthoz csatlakoztatj\u00e1k. A nyom\u00e1s alatt \u00e1ll\u00f3 modul folyos\u00f3k\u00e9nt fog szolg\u00e1lni az ISS \u0171rhaj\u00f3sai sz\u00e1m\u00e1ra, \u00e9s mindk\u00e9t laborat\u00f3rium sz\u00e1m\u00e1ra biztos\u00edtja az \u00e1ramell\u00e1t\u00e1st \u00e9s a k\u00f6rnyezeti szab\u00e1lyoz\u00e1st.
