Thomas fik selskab i Soyuz-kapslen af den russiske kommand\u00f8r Oleg Novitsky. De to rumforskere styrtede derefter ned i Jordens atmosf\u00e6re med en hastighed p\u00e5 over 28.000 km\/t, hvor friktionen fra luften fik Soyuz-kapslens varmeskjold til at n\u00e5 op p\u00e5 1600 \u00b0C! Der blev brugt specielle raketter og faldsk\u00e6rme til at bremse rumfart\u00f8jet, mens Thomas og Oleg blev beskyttet mod den uj\u00e6vne tur af deres polstrede s\u00e6der. Han befinder sig nu p\u00e5 ESA\u2019s astronautcenter i K\u00f6ln, Tyskland. L\u00e6gerne unders\u00f8ger, om han er ved godt helbred, og vil unders\u00f8ge, hvordan hans krop har \u00e6ndret sig efter at have opholdt sig i v\u00e6gtl\u00f8shed i seks m\u00e5neder. Denne forskning vil komme fremtidige astronauter til gode, som ogs\u00e5 vil opleve v\u00e6gtl\u00f8shed p\u00e5 lange missioner.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\" data-width=\"2048\" data-credit=\"Roscosmos\u2013O. Han havde travlt med at deltage i mere end 60 eksperimenter om den menneskelige hjerne, havstr\u00f8mme, str\u00e5ling i rummet og endda afpr\u00f8vning af nye materialer til rumfart\u00f8jer.
